GARBAGE TRUCK DRIVER - Position Vacancy – Part-Time - CDL Class B

Job Summary
As a Commercial Driver, you'll operate heavy-duty trucks with rear end load lift attachment. You'll be responsible for providing the pick-up service of containers filled with garbage waste. Containers may require you to maneuver wheeled containers to a pick-up stage area. You'll transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when your truck has reached the legal load capacity. Safe driving is crucial as you'll maneuver your truck in high traffic / congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Your high level of skill with backing maneuvers is essential to being successful as a commercial driver.
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
Must be at least 21 years of age
Hold a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with an air-brake endorsement.
1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
**Will consider CDL training onsite.
What You'll Do
As a Conley Waste Commercial Driver, you'll be expected to perform the following tasks:
Operate truck in accordance with Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
Pre- and post-trip inspections of your truck and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
Immediately report all unsafe situations or service related issues to your Supervisor.
Attend and participate in training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.
Communicate customer requests to your Dispatch or Route Manager.
Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
Follow your route assignments and completes end of day documentation / check out process.
Perform duties as scheduled by your Supervisor or Dispatch and assist other drivers to meet customer needs.

Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
You'll handle objects more than 50 pounds frequently.
You'll have to push, pull, bend, twist and lift up to 100 lbs.
Normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or driving a video/GPS monitored vehicle.
You'll be exposed to a physical, outdoor environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.

SUMMARY
The Drivers Assistant is responsible for assisting with the operation of the garbage truck in a safe and appropriate manner. They must also collect and dispose of all trash at each stop. He/she must conduct all activities according to the delivery and collection schedule and all relevant policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
•Assist with the operation of the garbage truck in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
•Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according policies and procedures
•Practice workplace safety
•Collect garbage from buildings, businesses and other facilities as per schedule to ensure garbage is removed, transported and disposed of according to set policies and procedures
•Pick up refuse in other areas as required
•Dispose of garbage according to set policies and procedures
•Perform other related duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Drivers Assistant has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Drivers Assistant will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. As the Drivers Assistant is handling potentially dangerous materials he/she must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.
The Drivers Assistant maybe exposed to unpleasant sights and smells.
